Lead Mechanical Engineer required working for one of the UK's largest Defence contractors on there sight in Bedford.
The successful Engineer will be able to Research, plan, design and develop mechanical products and systems for military fighting vehicles. Takes ownership of the overall project design and acceptance reporting to the Project Manager.
Shall lead the entire design engineering team, including hardware and software design disciplines.
In addition, to have demonstratable working knowledge in the field of instrumentation, controls, robotic, power generation systems and electro/ mechanical systems that covers;
- Measurement
- Testing
- Production
- Qualification
The successful applicant will also ensure integrity of the design solution throughout the Project Development Cycle as well as gaining system acceptance from the customer. Will be able to communicate with the systems, hardware and software engineering disciplines and an understanding and demonstrated practice of all aspects of engineering design, development and qualification practices is critical to the position.
Essential Experience:
Acts independently to resolve issues associated with the development and implementation of operational programmes configured around military fighting vehicles Plans technological programmes to accomplish long-range objectives. Disciplined and rigorous approach to mechanical engineering, including planning, design processes, tracking and controlling of project activities Exhibits an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity and resourcefulness. Applies and develops advanced technologies, scientific principles, theories and concepts. Consultant to management in long range planning concerning areas of technical research and advancements.
Candidates must be willing to go through a security clearance process.
