Centrica

Created in 1997, Centrica plc is the UK’s leading multinational energy company, which through its additional interests in North America and Europe generated revenues of £21.3bn in 2008.

More recently, in September 2008, Centrica acquired the Caythorpe gas-producing field near Bridlington to use for storage purposes and also recently acquired a 20% stake in British Energy for over £2bn.

Centrica is the largest supplier of gas to domestic customers in the UK, and one of the largest suppliers of electricity, operating under the trading names “Scottish Gas” in Scotland and “British Gas” in the rest of the UK. Their central expertise is ‘Energy’. Focusing on the securing and supply of gas and electricity for millions of homes and businesses, they offer a distinctive range of home energy solutions and low-carbon products and services.
