Modis has been a preferred supplier to one of the UK’s leading telecommunications companies since 1992. This company has had requirements for almost every conceivable skill and product area to support its businesses across the UK, often in challenging timescales to complex specifications. Modis has provided assigned staff at all levels to support all areas of its market in the UK across most of the 30 sites throughout the UK and has recently been selected as a preferred supplier for one of its groups across Mainland Europe.

The company has worked with this global telecommunications company since 1995, becoming a formal preferred supplier in 1998. There are currently 8 on the supplier list, reviewed annually. A dedicated team of people in our Eindhoven office supports the account in mainland Europe and Scandinavia, with 2 further staff based in London.

Skills supplied include RBS commission engineering, installation coordination, IE engineering, AXE test engineering, O & M vendor support engineering, TCM-engineering, design engineering (coding & testing) and data transcript engineering, integration test engineering (specification & execution tests/IOT-testing) & ASV engineering, FSC engineering (including troubleshooting) & OSS engineering (XMATE/TMOS), project coordination/management, network design engineering, and IN/IP-datacom engineering.

Modis Managed Services first worked with this leading global telecommunications company in April 1997 to provide contract staff. In the 6 years we have worked with this company we have been party to many changes and have expanded our service from contract recruitment in IT development to both contract and permanent recruitment throughout the whole of the Technical Directorate.

When the relationship commenced in April 1997 the situation this company faced was an uncontrolled supplier base, without any supplier consistency, management or review. There was also no structure for maximising purchasing power and cost gains and a lack of management information. Year on year, Modis has improved and extended the service over time in partnership.

Cost Savings

We have successfully worked with this particular company to achieve hard cash savings of over £1 million in the last 2 years for both permanent and contract recruitment. This does not include the intangible savings based on time saved by HR, procurement and line managers in the recruitment process. This has been achieved by working with the company to select the right suppliers without detracting from the quality of candidates provided. The company has seen a real improvement in the quality of supply and through the use of the reports from the software we have utilised, they are able to proactively manage the performance of their suppliers.
